Our History
2013
Gates Foundation issues Challenge to reduce pediatric mortality from pneumonia, prompting Dr. James West and Dr. Mounya Elhilali to develop a solution with their students Ian McLane and Dimitra Emmanouilidou.
2014
Data collected in the Pneumonia Etiology Research for Child Health (PERCH) study conducted across seven countries used to validate classification algorithm.
2015
McLane and Emmanouilidou develop prototype of lung sound collection device and test classification algorithm.
2016
First patents issued to West research group at Johns Hopkins for early adaptive noise suppression and classification algorithms, and Feelix hardware prototype.
2017
Sonavi Labs is formed by Ellington West and Ian McLane.
2018
Sonavi Labs licenses technology from Johns Hopkins University to further develop and commercialize Feelix platform.
2019
Sonavi Labs invited to becomes JLABS portfolio company. Awarded NIH Minority Health grant. Wins MIT-SOLVE competition.
2020
Sonavi Labs launches pilot program with INOVA hospital. Awarded NIH grant from National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute (NHLBI). FeelixPro + Feelix devices receive FDA.
